WEATHER
Summer months, December to February, are a time of young animals and many opportunities to witness predators in action. There is plenty of water and grazing, and the game is spread out over a wide area. The intense heat and inevitable afternoon thundershowers encourage activity towards the end of the day when it cools. Temperatures range from minimum 20°C (68F) to maximum 35°C, (88F), with February the hottest month.
June through August brings winter. Although the temperatures are cooler, short sleeves can still be worn during the day with a warm jacket at night. Cooler temperatures make predators more active, and witnessing a kill during the day is more likely. Game activity around the rivers and waterholes is excellent during this time of year. Temperatures fluctuate between 9°C (48F) and
26°C (77F).
From March through May (Autumn) and September through November (Spring) the weather is less intense, cooler and it rains less. The vegetation is also less dense than during the summer, providing better opportunity for spotting game. The temperatures during the day are warm, but the nights can be cool.
April to October are generally the best month for game viewing as the grass is lower and the depth of vision longer.
